providing innovative design ideas to help our clients achieve their strategic goals

Cook Elementary School

Adel, GA

A new elementary school, opened in Fall 2005, the Cook Elementary School is innovatively designed to go beyond mandated requirements while remaining within budget.

Classrooms were designed substantially larger than state-mandated size, allowing additional space to incorporate technology into each classroom. In addition, advanced sound absorption and energy-saving features will keep both noise levels and energy costs low.

Miller County School System

Colquitt, GA

A new 140,000 square foot facility that accommodates 1,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade on one site was completed in the spring of 2009. The facility was designed to incorporate future additions that would enlarge the facility to over 160,00 square feet for 1,300 students. Grades K through 5 are separated from grades 6 through 12 with a shared core area of administration, media, and cafeteria, which reduces administration costs.

Also included on the site are two gymnasiums, two music rooms and art suites, technology and special education classrooms and three vocational education suites. With all of the latest technology incorporated, the new facility provides Miller County with a state-of-the-art school that made the most effective use of their budget.

Georgia Southwestern State University President's Home

Americus, GA

This historic campus building, built in 1915, served as the original college president’s home. SRJ was retained for a renovation project that would upgrade the building’s infrastructure for use by the university’s admissions center and alumni services center, while restoring the interior and exterior to their original charm.

As is the case with many such restorations, the project included comprehensive asbestos and lead-based paint abatement.

Education

Academic facilities present the architect with a unique challenge.

Structures built for education must be extremely flexible due to the multiplicity of uses they require and the ever-changing nature of the profession.

While they must be adaptable to changing technology, they must be inviting, accommodating and conducive to learning. In addition, they must be durable and designed for a long life span.

And almost always, these goals must be met on a limited budget. SRJ’s decades of experience in this challenging field enable us to deliver our clients exceptional facilities that fulfill their goals ... within their budget.
