A new 112,600 square foot facility that accommodates 600 students from kindergarten through 12th grade on one site was completed in the Summer of 2021. Grades K through 5 are separated from grades 6 through 12 with a shared core area of administration, media, and cafeteria, which reduces administration costs.
Also included on the site are two gymnasiums, music room, technology and special education classrooms, Votech. education suite, and a new Robotics Lab. With all of the latest technology incorporated, the new facility provides Calhoun County with a state-of-the-art school that made the most effective use of their budget.
The scope of this project was a new 2-story addition to an existing elementary school for a special-needs alternative school.
This addition included an automatic sprinkler system, LED lighting, an elevator, and the latest technology. We assisted the Owner in selecting the classroom furniture, Sensory Lab equipment, and Administration furniture. A secondary drop-off/pick up area was created and additional playgrounds installed.
The scope of this project included total modernization of the original 1967 building. This school is a First and Second Grade facility. This included a new brick facade with additional insulation and a new covered bus and car entrance with a secured vestibule. The roof and metal mansard panels were replaced. Roof insulation was increased, meeting the current Energy Code. Windows were replaced with new insulated windows.
This project also included the addition of an automatic sprinkler system, updates of electrical, lighting, and power throughout the buildings, new HVAC systems for all classrooms, modernization of toilet facilities meeting ADA requirements, and new ceilings and floor coverings throughout the building. ADA improvements were also made to drinking fountains and ramps. Additional ADA ramps were added to the exterior of the building. Classrooms were reconfigured to meet the current DOE requirements. Emergency exits were added to each classroom pod, along with “lockdown doors” at the pod entrance. Thin panel walls were replaced with concrete masonry walls. Millwork was replaced throughout the school.
The Administration Area was also reconfigured and updated to maximize the square footage available for needed uses. New Administration and Media Center furniture was also included.
