The scope of this project included total modernization of the original 1967 building. This school is a First and Second Grade facility. This included a new brick facade with additional insulation and a new covered bus and car entrance with a secured vestibule. The roof and metal mansard panels were replaced. Roof insulation was increased, meeting the current Energy Code. Windows were replaced with new insulated windows.
This project also included the addition of an automatic sprinkler system, updates of electrical, lighting, and power throughout the buildings, new HVAC systems for all classrooms, modernization of toilet facilities meeting ADA requirements, and new ceilings and floor coverings throughout the building. ADA improvements were also made to drinking fountains and ramps. Additional ADA ramps were added to the exterior of the building. Classrooms were reconfigured to meet the current DOE requirements. Emergency exits were added to each classroom pod, along with “lockdown doors” at the pod entrance. Thin panel walls were replaced with concrete masonry walls. Millwork was replaced throughout the school.
The Administration Area was also reconfigured and updated to maximize the square footage available for needed uses. New Administration and Media Center furniture was also included.
